  • How does booking work?

A credit card must be on file to book an appointment. Your card will not be charged; it is just to hold your appointment time. At the time of your appointment, you can use the card on file or another payment method of your choice. In case of a late cancellation or no-show, your card will be charged 100% of the scheduled service(s). Luna Beauty and Wellness does not accept checks or work on liens. If you need a quote or would like to book a service outside of usual business hours or for a particular service such as a wedding, corporate event, etc., please contact us.

  • Where are you located?

Luna Beauty and Wellness can be found on the 2nd floor of the Ponderosa Professional Building. Please note there is no elevator at our building.

    How to find us:

    • Just off the 101 near Harley’s Camarillo Bowl.
    • Coming North: Exit Lewis, turn left onto Daily Drive, and turn right onto Mobil Avenue.
    • Coming South: Exit Lewis, turn right onto Ventura Blvd. Right onto Arneil Road, left onto Daily Drive, and right onto Mobil Avenue.
  • When is the best time to get waxed?

Your hair should be about the length of long-grain rice or a sprinkle for a successful wax treatment. This means your wax should be booked about two or four weeks after shaving. If your hair has been recently shaved and is not near the appropriate length, you will be responsible for 100% of the service cost whether or not the majority of the hair was removed.

Please avoid using chemical exfoliants in the area where you plan to be waxed 72 hours before your appointment.

Suppose you are using Retin-a, Renova, Accutane (oral form of Retin-a), or any other acne-treating or skin-thinning medication a dermatologist prescribes either topically or ingests. In that case, you will not be able to be waxed due to the exfoliating nature of the medication. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Luna Beauty and Wellness for clarity before your appointment.

An SPF of 30 or higher is necessary on the area post-wax if it is exposed to sunlight.

  • Why does a Man-Zilian cost more than a Brazilian?

Hair removal on male genitalia uses more product, takes more time, and requires special training and skill set to perform this service correctly and safely.

  • Is getting a wax while on my cycle ok?

Yes! Women get waxed on their cycle very often. It's simply important that you put in a new tampon or use a cup.

Please note: due to water retention and personal comfort, you may want to avoid hair removal two days before your cycle is due and two days after it is completed.

  • What is skin brightening?

Skin brightening is a cosmetic and skincare process aimed at enhancing the appearance of the skin by making it appear more radiant, even-toned, and vibrant. Skin brightening is safe and gentle enough to be performed on any body area.

Clients usually see results up to one to three shades lighter after their first professional treatment. Please note that it may take several treatments to reach your desired shade. A professional treatment 1-2x per week is recommended until desired results are achieved. Then, at-home products or a professional treatment every month are suitable for maintenance.

This formula is designed to safely lighten the dark areas of your skin to achieve a more even tone. It will not cause hypopigmentation ( where the skin becomes lighter than the natural baseline skin color.)

Skin brightening is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. Results will not last due to heightened hormones; it is best to wait until after pregnancy or breastfeeding to start treatment.

An open follicle will allow for better product absorption, leading to better results. For this reason, wax of the area to be brightened is included in the treatment on most areas of the body as long as there are no contraindications to doing so.

  • How long will my spray tan last?

Most spray tans last about seven to ten days with proper aftercare.

  • Do you have any prep tips for special events?

You have a big event coming up and want to book a few treatments to ensure you look & feel your best. The problem is that you are a little unsure about the timeline. We are here to help! Here is a quick guide to plan how far each treatment should be booked.

Skincare Regimen: Six months before is your safest bet. Especially if it is for something as important as your wedding, often we don’t have the luxury of knowing about events six months in advance. If you don’t have major skin issues (rosacea, acne, bacne, etc.), three months before will work. Remember that your skin may “purge” initially, so we must give it enough time to clear up and find what it needs. Bi-weekly facials and skincare treatments are recommended leading up to an event, but doing your part at home is crucial in achieving your desired results. This includes using guided, professional quality skincare products morning and night. Using the cheapest drugstore cleanser and sleeping in your makeup won’t cut it.

Makeup Trial: Three months before is ideal. Again, if this is for something less important than your wedding, you can cut it closer. This is important for you to feel confident with your makeup artist and will reduce stress by allowing the day off to go more smoothly and ultimately a little faster. Make the most out of your trial! Book it on a day you plan to go out or before an event like your bridal shower or engagement photos.

Waxing: A minimum of two days before to ensure no irritation. Waxing should be done before spray tanning.

Spray Tan: Two days before. If your event is on Saturday, Thursday is the day to get your glow. This ensures the solution has plenty of time to develop and all the cosmetic bronzer is washed off.

  • What should I expect when getting my eyebrows waxed?

Have you never had a brow wax? Here’s what you can expect:

    • We discuss what YOU want regarding brow shape and what works well with your natural features.
    • The skin is prepped for the best and most comfortable results. This includes a light cleanse to remove makeup and clean the skin. Then, oil is applied. Oil works as a barrier between the wax and the skin, so wax adheres only to the hair and minimizes discomfort and stress to the skin.
    • Wax on, wax off. Now, we lay the wax and remove the hair. It only hurts for a second!
    • We may need to trim or tweeze up some of the stray hairs to perfect the shape.
    • Now, we apply the post-wax products to help reduce the risk of breakouts and reduce redness. Products are applied with a relaxing mini massage.
    • The service is finished with an optional makeup fill to perfect your desired shape and let you go about your day.
    • Book your next appointment! With waxing, consistency is key for the best results. Eyebrows are usually ready for their next wax every two to four weeks, depending on the person.

    After your wax:

    • Avoid applying heat to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours.
    • Use an anti-acne lotion following the treatment. Apply twice a day until breakouts are gone.
    • Avoid direct sun exposure for 12-24 hours post-wax.
    • Avoid applying highly fragranced products.
    • Avoid using harsh exfoliation in the waxed area.
    • Any redness or pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after waxing.
