How to prepare for your spray tan
Exfoliate well the day before your tan. Shave if needed. Make sure to prep with a spray tan friendly soap. You need a gentle cleanser that is sulfate free. Absolutely no Dove, Dial, Olay, Suave, Tree Hut, Bath & Body Works, or any other heavily fragranced products.
Manicures and pedicures should be done at least 24 hours prior to your tan
Come to your appointment with clean skin free of lotions, oils, deodorant, perfume or makeup.
Avoid hot showers at least 4 hours prior to your appointment.
Bring loose, dark clothing and flip flops to wear home from your appointment. Tight clothing may cause imperfections in your spray tan.
How to care for your spray tan
A spray tan should last 7-10 days with proper prep and aftercare. Get the most out of your tan! Follow our aftercare instructions and product recommendations for best results!
You must wait at least 12 hours to shower post tan. You may do a warm water rinse without soap 3-6 hours post tan as determined by your spray tan technician.
Avoid water on the skin and skin-to-skin contact while your tan develops. If sleeping in your developing tan it is recommended to sleep in a long sleeve top and long pants to avoid touching your skin in your sleep. Prematurely touching your skin can cause flaws in the tan as well as your palms/fingers to absorb too much product.
Avoid heavy exercise and sweating while your tan is developing.
Avoid exfoliation until you are ready for your tan to come off.
Gently pat dry after the shower or pool.
Prolonged exposure to long hot showers, hot tubs, chlorine, saunas or friction can shorten the life of your tan.
If swimming, it is best to use a water-resistant lotion sunscreen. Aerosol sprays are not recommended.
Stay hydrated and well moisturized. It is recommended to use lotion in the morning and evening.
The cosmetic bronzer will wash off during your 1st rinse. It takes 24 hours for your tan to fully develop.
All products are not created equal! Please follow your spray tan technician’s recommendations for best results. Some soaps, body washes, lotions and personal care products are not spray tan friendly. Absolutely no Dove, Dial, Olay, Suave, Tree Hut, Bath & Body Works, or any other heavily fragranced products with sulfates. Lotions must be free of mineral oil. We carry a variety of spray tan safe products in the studio so you can protect your tan and stay glowing as long as possible.
